Undergraduate Behavioral Health (Summer Intern) - KY | Fully Remote (Kentucky, United States)

Job Description

Safe Touch Family Counseling is seeking a motivated and compassionate Undergraduate Behavioral Health Intern to support our clinical team while gaining hands-on experience in the mental health field. This internship is ideal for students interested in social work, psychology, or counseling who are eager to learn in a real-world, trauma-informed environment.

Interns will have the opportunity to observe therapy sessions, support client care, and contribute to meaningful projects that impact children, adolescents, and families.

What You’ll Gain

Core Responsibilities

Clinical Exposure & Shadowing

• Observe individual and family therapy sessions (as appropriate)
• Learn trauma-informed care and therapeutic approaches

Group & Client Support

• Assist in preparing materials for psychoeducational groups
• Support activities focused on coping skills and emotional development

Documentation & Compliance

• Learn to complete progress notes within EMR systems
• Follow HIPAA, confidentiality, and ethical standards

Case Management Support

• Assist with client resources, referrals, and documentation
• Support administrative and coordination tasks

Creative & Outreach Projects

• Help create TikTok and social media content (e.g., breathing exercises for kids)
• Assist with blog writing, worksheets, and educational materials
• Support marketing efforts through flyers and digital content 

Preferred Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s program (Social Work, Psychology, or related field)
• Interest in behavioral health and trauma-informed care
• Strong communication and willingness to learn
• Creative mindset (social media/content creation is a plus)
